Interview: Tal Gelbart on Building the Next Generation of Ballistic Protection at PACPROTECT

Tal Gelbart has been appointed Managing Director of PACPROTECT. Tal brings a combination of strategic, governmental, and operational leadership experience. He previously served as Senior Advisor to the President of Israel, working on international initiatives and innovation, and earlier as a Company Commander in the Israeli Defense Forces. In this interview, Tal reflects on how that background shapes his leadership approach, his view on responsibility and trust, and his priorities for PACPROTECT as the company scales.

In this Q&A, he shares how trust is built, why real-world usability matters in ballistic protection, and how PACPROTECT continues to evolve within the NUNC Capital ecosystem.

Your career includes senior governmental and operational leadership roles. How has that shaped the way you lead today?

I learned leadership in roles where decisions need to be made under pressure and accountability is non-negotiable. At PACPROTECT I lead the same way: set priorities, execute quickly, and take full responsibility for outcomes.

Trust is essential in national security and defense. In your view, how is trust earned and maintained at PACPROTECT?

Trust is built through actions, not words. At PACPROTECT we’re a people-first organization, and safety and quality come before everything else. We do our work quietly and precisely, and we stand behind the product because people depend on it. Inside the team, trust works the same way as in a tactical unit: we rely on each other, we communicate directly, and we take responsibility for the result.

PACPROTECT has already earned international recognition for product design. How do you build on that foundation going forward?

PACPROTECT has a strong legacy in ballistic protection, with more than a decade of supporting elite units around the world. Our new-generation shield takes that foundation further, and the recognition we’ve received is proof that the direction is right. I’m proud to be trusted with leading the company, and to join the PACPROTECT family.

You’ve worked in operational environments. How does that experience influence the way you think about product design and real-world use?

Because we come from the field, we understand what operators need. The goal is simple: maximum protection with real usability. I’ve seen what works under pressure, and what doesn’t, and I keep that in mind when we design, build, and support teams worldwide.

PACPROTECT is part of the NUNC Capital portfolio. How do you balance strategic alignment with operational independence?

NUNC is a real advantage for us. Their credibility and network in the defense space, combined with strategic alignment and operational synergies, helps PACPROTECT move faster and execute better. It gives us backing without slowing us down.

What excites you most about leading PACPROTECT at this stage?

The world is changing fast, and the need for top-quality ballistic protection is only growing. We’re proud to serve our allies and provide the most advanced protection possible, so the people using our equipment can do their job and come home safely to their families. That’s what excites me most.
